The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) collates crime statistics for all counties in the state. Its latest crime data for Osceola County are for 2017. In that year, the county recorded 1,277 violent crimes and 7,369 property crimes. Compared to the figures for 2013, the violent crime rate dipped by 9.3% while the property crime rate shrank by 15.9%. A closer look at the reported Part I crimes for 2017 shows that there were 19 murders, 144 rapes, 182 robberies, and 932 aggravated assaults. Osceola County also recorded 1,482 burglaries, 5,405 larcenies, and 482 motor vehicle thefts in 2017.
In the latestfive-year crime trend for the county, murder (171%), rape (23.1%), and motor vehicle theft (50.6%) recorded higher numbers in 2017 compared to 2013. In the same period, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and larcenies rates fell by 18.7%, 12.1%, 41.7%, and 8.4% respectively.

Osceola County Sheriff's Office provides local background checks. It charges $5 for each background check and $6 to obtain a certified criminal history report from the Sheriff’s Office. Visit any of the Sheriff’s offices in the county to request a copy of a background check. The Circuit Court handles all felony cases and civil disputes involving more than $15,000. The County Court is the lower court in the county and it is also located in the same building as the Circuit Court. Cases of misdemeanors, violation of municipal and county ordinances, and civil disputes involving $15,000 or less are handled by the County Court.
The Osceola County Clerk of the Circuit Court maintains all criminal and civil case records for the courts in the county. The Clerk provides online access to these records via its Case Search portal for various fees. The clerk charges $1 per page for copies of court records and an additional$2 per document for certified copies. Recently, the Clerk has provided an online means of purchasing electronically certified copies of Osceola County Court Records. Osceola County Vital Records
Osceola County's divorce certificates are maintained by the Bureau of Vital Statistics, Florida Department of Health. The Bureau only provides divorce reports from June 6, 1927 to the present and charges $5 for each copy. To obtain divorce records prior to this date, visit the Osceola County Clerk of Court at the address listed above. The Bureau charges an additional $2 per year search fee for requests submitted without the year of divorce. Make an in-person request for a divorce record by visiting the Bureau's office at:

Osceola County marriage certificates are also provided by the Bureau of Vital Statistics of the Florida Department of Health. Only records of marriages from June 6, 1927 to the present can be obtained from this office. The fee for each copy of marriage certificate is $5. To request a marriage record by mail, download, complete, and submit this application to the Bureau of Vital Statistics at the address listed above The requirements for requesting a divorce record also apply for requesting a marriage record.
While birth and death certificates are also being provided by the bureau, they can be obtained from local offices affiliated to the bureau. Copies of birth certificates are provided at $20 while a copy of a death certificate costs $10. A search fee of $5.00 applies when the correct name and/or date of birth or death is unknown. Download and complete the Birth Certificate Application (also provided in Spanish) or the Death Certificate Application to request for the relevant record. Requests made at the Tax Collector offices attract a $6.25 service charge. Enclose a money order for applicable fees with a mail request. Cash is accepted only when making a request in person. These local offices only issue death certificates from 2009 to present. Death certificates prior to 2009 must be requested from the Bureau's Office in Jacksonville.
