Crime Statistics in Brevard County

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement compiles and publishes crime statistics for Brevard County. According to data published for 2017, the city recorded a total of 16,957 index offenses, made up of 14,857 property crime incidents and 2,870 violent crime incidents. Aggravated assault was the most common violent crime with 2,047 reports, while larceny-theft was the most common property crime with 10,588 incidents. Compared to 2016, the county recorded a 5.3% drop in total crimes. Burglaries, auto thefts dropped by 18.4% and 11.2%, while incidences of robbery slid 12.2%.

Criminal Records in Brevard County

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office provides public access to a variety of records, including copies of case reports and arrest reports. Residents can request records in person at 700 South Park Avenue, Building J (East side of complex), Titusville, Florida 32780. The department also processes local background checks.

Similarly, residents can obtain criminal history records by contacting the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FLDE). It maintains an online search tool for instance searches. However, the search results are not certified. A $24.00 fee is charged for this service. Searches that include more than one candidate incur an additional $25.00 per record.

Criminal history information can be obtained in person or by mail. Interested parties must complete a request form, providing as much relevant information as possible, including their full name, race, sex, and date of birth. Certified results may be obtained in English or Spanish. Requests sent by mail must include a check or money order made payable to the FDLE for the applicable fee. How to Obtain Inmate Information in Brevard County

Brevard County inmate information is maintained at county and state level by the respective law enforcement agencies. At county level, inquirers may perform a Brevard County Inmate Search through the County Sheriff’s Office. Records for divorces or marriage dissolutions in Brevard County can be obtained at the Florida Department of Health Bureau of Vital Statistics. The office manages records of divorces granted from 1927 till present. Reports of recently filed divorces may take up to sixty days before they are included in the record.
