What are Santa Rosa County Public Records?

According to data published by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, in 2017 Santa Rosa County recorded 2,158 crimes. These crimes included 6 murders, 198 aggravated assaults, 93 motor vehicle thefts, and 1,399 cases of larceny. This figure represents a 0.9% decrease in total crime from 2016 and a 3.1% decrease in the crime rate per 100,000 residents.

Are Santa Rosa County Criminal Records Public?

Except where sealed by a court order, Santa Rosa county criminal records are open to the public. How to Obtain Santa Rosa County Criminal and Civil Court Case Records

The Santa Rosa County Clerk of Court is responsible for maintaining all court records for the county. These records may be accessed in person at the Clerk of Court’s Administration Center or at the Public Records/Archives Division located at:

What are Santa Rosa County Vital Records?

Santa Rosa's vital records provide details of life events that occur in the county, such as birth records, death records, marriage records, and divorce records. Some of these records can be obtained locally. For instance, the Santa Rosa County Clerk of Court manages records of divorce decrees issued by the courts. Residents can also obtain vital records by contacting the Florida Department of Health. It maintains two offices that serve the county of Santa Rosa. These offices are located at:

Where and How to Obtain Santa Rosa Divorce Records

Interested parties can obtain divorce records for a fee by contacting the office of the Santa Rosa County Clerk of Court. Requesters will need to provide enough information to assist with the search, such as the case number, name of the parties involved in the marriage, and the date the case was filed. Records for divorces that took place from June 6, 1927, can also be obtained from the Florida Department of Health. There is a $5 fee per certification and another $4 fee for each additional certification of the same record. Interested parties requesting these records by mail should provide a signed application that includes the full names of both spouses, date of the divorce (at least the year the divorce occurred), the applicant's full name, mailing address, telephone number, and a check or money order made out to "Vital Statistics."

Where and How to Get Public Santa County Marriage Records

Marriage records can be obtained by contacting the office of the Santa Rosa County Clerk of Court. Records of marriages that took place from June 6, 1927, till the present can also be obtained from any of the Santa Rosa offices of the Florida Department of Health. Requesters will need to complete and submit an application request form. Interested parties can also mail in a completed Form DH261 along with a check or money order made out to "Vital Statistics" to:

The Florida Department of Health processes state-wide requests for birth records. Copies of birth certificates can be obtained in person after completing a Florida Birth Record Application at the Florida Department of Health’s Milton office or by mailing the completed form to:

Birth Certificates are issued to registrants who are at least 18 years old, parents named on the certificate, lawyers representing the registrant or parent, legal guardians with guardianship papers, or interested parties with a notarized affidavit. There is a $14 fee for each copy of the certificate issued and an additional $2 fee for mail-in requests. All applicants must have a valid photo I.D such as a driver’s license, U.S passport, or military ID card.

The Florida Department of Health serves as the primary custodian of statewide death records. To obtain Santa Rosa death records, all applicants must have a valid photo ID. Copies of death certificates must be obtained in person after completing and submitting an application form to the:

Death certificates that do not show the cause of death can be obtained by any interested party. However, death certificates that include the cause of death are issued to only the decedent’s immediate family, lawyers representing the immediate family, executors of the estate, insurance companies, or anyone requiring a certificate to pay a policy or death benefit on the decedent. There is an $11 fee for each copy of the certificate issued and an additional $2 fee for mail-in requests.

Applications may also include a $5.00 search fee that covers a search of one calendar year for the entire State of Florida and one certified copy of the death record. An additional $2.00 is charged per calendar year searched if the date of death is unknown. There is also a $4.00 fee per copy for additional certificates.

Are Property Records Open to the Public in Santa Rosa County

Under the Florida Sunshine Law, Santa Rosa County records, including property records are accessible to interested public members. Record seekers may access online and offline copies of a property record via the custodian office responsible for maintaining the property documents.

Property records are under the supervision of Santa Rosa County's Property Appraiser. The Property Appraiser's Office maintains and issues copies of records pertaining to real properties and tangible personal properties upon request to interested record seekers.
