Walton County arrest records are the official records of arrests that were made in Walton County. These records are generated by the Walton County law enforcement agencies and compiled by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The FDLE compiles these reports and publishes annual county arrest information.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), through its Florida Statistical Analysis Center (FSAC), maintains and disseminates criminal statistics for the State of Florida.

In 2019 there were a total of 1,086 reported index crimes in Walton County. Of these 143 reports were of violent crimes comprising 1 murder, 18 rapes, 4 robberies, and 120 aggravated assaults. Property crimes numbered 943 incidents consisting of 153 burglaries, 713 larcenies, and 77 motor vehicle thefts.

Compared with crime statistics from 2015, records show a decrease in the rates of rape (-28%), robbery (-60%), aggravated assault (-34.1%), burglary (-63%), and larceny (-30.2%). The rates of murder (+100%) and motor vehicle theft (+18.5%) both increased during the same period.

What are Walton County Criminal Records?

Walton County criminal records are the complete criminal history information of residents of Walton County who have been convicted of a crime. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is typically the custodian of such records at county-level, while the FDLE maintains criminal records at the state level.

How do I get Walton County Criminal Records

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is the state’s repository for criminal information. It stores, maintains, and disseminates criminal records in the state. The department’s Division of Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) keeps all criminal records and provides official background reports upon request for a fee of $24.00. All criminal records in the state are maintained via fingerprints.

The background checks contain basic personal information but focus more on criminal history information, including warrants, court dispositions, police/arrest records, etc. The information that shows up in these background checks is information from the Department of Corrections and law enforcement officials statewide. These records can be requested online or ordered through the mail.

NB: The mail-order option will be discontinued in JULY 2020.

Copies of Walton County criminal records are available from the Sheriff’s Office on request. Jail records cost $15 for the search and the first 12 pages of record copies. Each subsequent page cost 15 cents each. Certified copies cost $1 per page. Criminal history records for Walton County are obtainable for free.

How To Find Walton County Sex Offender Information

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) maintains the Sex Offender Registry in Florida. It contains all available information regarding criminals that have been charged and convicted of sexual offenses.

Information on sexual offenders registered in Walton County is also available from the Sheriff’s Office.

How do I Visit an Inmate in Walton County Jail?

There are two correctional facilities in Walton County- The Walton County Jail and the Walton Correctional Institution (WCI). The County jail is run by the Sheriff’s Department and the WCI is run by the Department of Corrections.

To visit inmates at a facility, the visitors have to register in advance and receive approval. Only three visitors or less are allowed at a time. An approved adult must accompany individuals younger than 18 years with valid identification. All visitation sessions must not be more than 15 minutes. The County jail has two jail visitation systems:

  • On-site visitation facility
  • Home visitation system.

The visitation hours for both systems are the same, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 AM, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 PM, and 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.

Where And How To Find Walton County Inmate Information

Walton County inmate information can be obtained from the county jail through inquiries or from the County Sheriff’s office. The Sheriff’s Department maintains a regularly updated online inmate roster containing the details of inmates incarcerated in the county jail. Searches can be done with the following information.

The Florida Department of Corrections retains a central repository for inmate records in the state. Records are available via an online database that enables the general public to locate information on inmates incarcerated in state correctional facilities.

Walton County court records are records of court cases filed and finalized in Walton County. Copies of these records are available online or by submitting requests in person to the Walton County Clerk of the Court.

Walton County Vital Records

Vital records are documentation of life events like births, deaths, marriage, and divorces. The Florida Department of Health (FDH) is responsible for maintaining vital records in Florida and makes certified copies available for a fee. Copies of certain vital records are available to eligible individuals but all records can be requested in person, by mail, or online. Acceptable forms of payment are checks or money orders made payable to Bureau of Vital Statistics. Cash is only accepted for in-person requests.

Where and how to get Divorce records

The FDH maintains divorce certificates from June 1927. The certificates carry basic information on the divorce, and they only serve as evidence that it occurred. The actual judgment or decrees may be obtained directly from the county. Request copies of a divorce record by completing and submitting the Application for divorce records form. Completed forms must be accompanied by the complete payment and copies of valid photo IDs. Copies of records cost $5 each for the first year searched and $2 for each additional year searched. A certified record copy is included in this. Additional copies of a record cost $4 each.

For records prior to June 1927 contact the Office of the Clerk of the Walton Circuit Court.

Where and How To Get Birth and Death Records

The FDH maintains death records from 1877 and birth records from 1865. In Florida, birth records are restricted for 100 years and death records for 50 years after the events have occurred. Restricted records are only accessible to authorized people. People authorized to obtain confidential birth records are:

  • The subject of the record of legal age
  • Parents (must be named on the record)
  • Legal guardians with evidence
  • Authorized representatives of any of the individuals listed above
  • Individuals authorized by court order.

Confidential death records can only be obtained by;

  • The deceased’s spouse
  • Immediate family of the deceased
  • Legal representatives of the above.

Submit completed birth or death request forms along with valid photo identification and complete payment when requesting these records. Birth records cost $9 each and death records cost $5 each, for the first year searched. If the year is unknown there is a $2 for each additional year searched. A certified copy of the located record is included in this. Additional copies of records cost $4 each.

Birth and death records can also be obtained locally from the Department of Health in Walton County.

In addition to government agencies, county public records may also be obtained from third-party websites. These non-government platforms come with intuitive tools that allow for expansive searches. Record seekers may either opt to use these tools to search for a specific record or multiple records. Users are able to search third-party websites remotely for multiple records at a time with just the name of the record subject and their last known location, including the city, county, or state. Third-party sites are not sponsored by government agencies. Because of this, record availability and results may vary.

Where and How to get Marriage records

The FDH has marriage records from June 1927 to date. If the marriage is less than 60 days old or prior to 1927, contact the Clerk of Circuit Court in Walton County.

Certificates are issued as abstracts of the information on the marriage licenses and are acceptable as evidence that the marriages are valid. Requesters must fill and submit the Application for Marriage Certificates form, along with copies of valid IDs and complete payment. Certified copies of marriage certificates cost $5 each for the first year searched and each additional year searched costs $2. A certified copy is of the located record will be issued. Each additional copy of a record costs $4.
