What are Weston City Public Records?

Weston City public records contain information created or received under law, ordinance, or in relation to an agency's official business. According to the Florida Sunshine Law, public records include documents, audio, and video recordings, photographs, books, and other forms of data storage, regardless of physical form, characteristics, or mode of transmission. Most records created by Weston agencies are considered public and open to all interested persons. However, the following are some information that must remain closed to the public:

  • Sealed bids, proposals, or responses received by a public agency in relation to a competitive solicitation
  • Active criminal intelligence or investigative information that may interfere with an investigation, expose a confidential informant, or reveal the identity of a sex offense victim.
  • Security and fire safety records that include threat assessment plans, sheltering arrangements, threat response plans, and emergency evacuation plans
  • Personal identifying information contained in health records
  • Sensitive information contained in personnel records of an agency’s current or former employees, including medical information, social security numbers, and personal identifying information. Other details such as phone numbers, home addresses, and dates of births are also closed to the public
  • Personal information that would unnecessarily interfere with an individual’s privacy
  • Proprietary confidential business information, such as trade secrets, security measures or procedures, information on bids and contractual data, and other related records on competitive interests
  • Sealed court records

Public city records may also be accessible from third-party websites. Record seekers may either opt to use these non-governmental platforms to search for a specific record or multiple city records. However, users will need to provide enough information to assist with the search, such as:

  • The address of the requestor
  • A case number or file number (if known)
  • The location of the document or person involved
  • The name of the subject involved in the record (not juvenile)
  • The last known or current address of the registrant

Third-party sites are not sponsored by government agencies. Because of this, record availability and results may vary.

Are Weston City Criminal Records Public?

Weston City criminal records are public records. Interested persons may access desired requests from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FLDE) through the Certified/Non-Certified Search or the Instant Search. The Certified/Non-Certified Search allows record seekers to obtain physical copies which may also be notarized if requested. Processing time for non-certified copies is 5 business days, while certified copies may take 6 or 7 business days.

Requestors may also use the Instant Search to view immediate results and may print or email them. Both methods cost $24 per search, payable by credit or debit cards.

Alternatively, residents can conduct a local criminal records search at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) through its Public Record Online Portal. However, requestors should note that records are limited to arrest records reported to the BSO by law enforcement agencies in the county. Available records will not include any incidents that did not result in an arrest.

How to Obtain Weston City Police Reports and Arrest Records

  • Main Jail Bureau
  • Joseph V. Conte Facility
  • North Broward Bureau
  • Central Intake Bureau (Booking)
  • Paul Rein Detention Facility

All visits take place remotely or offsite at the BSO's Video Visitation Center. Visitors may schedule, modify, or cancel visits at least a day before but not more than 7 days in advance. Interested persons may also schedule visits using the visitation kiosk at the:

Visitation Center
3700 West Oakland Park Boulevard

All inmates may receive two video visits per week at the Visitation Center. Visitors should note that timing may differ and is only shown at the point of scheduling. In addition, visits may be canceled for administrative or emergency reasons. Upon cancellation, visitors will receive email or phone notifications. All visits are recorded and may be monitored.

No more than two approved persons are allowed per visit. A minor may only visit if accompanied by a legal guardian or parent unless the facility commander provides prior approval for the minor to visit with another adult. Parents and guardians must provide legal proof of custodial responsibility, such as a birth certificate, adoption papers, or other relevant documentation.

All visitors must be on time and present proper and current photo identification. Each visitor must submit to a frisk search, pat down, or electronic search to use the Visitation Center. All persons must also abide by a strict dress code and may lose visitation privileges for inappropriate or revealing clothing.

Visitors may not visit more than one inmate in a day. However, the facility may waive this rule if the visitor is an immediate family member of at least two inmates in the facility. Furthermore, the facility commander may permit other exceptions at their discretion. Prospective visitors should note that all persons on probation, parole, or work release are ineligible for visits without the facility commander’s prior written consent.
