What are Plantation Public Records?

The Florida Public Records Law defines Plantation public records as documents created, used, managed, or retained by government agencies in connection to official duties. Plantation public records include any document, paper, book, letter, map, photograph, tape, films, sound recordings, data processing software, and other information storing material. However, the Florida Public Records Laws allow public agencies to exempt certain records from public records. Most times, such documents are protected by state laws, federal laws, or court orders. Examples of records that may be exempted include:

  • Information about proceedings of an ongoing investigation.
  • Information about tactical procedures or other details can jeopardize the safety of the parties involved.
  • Documents that contain personal identifiers which could lead to an unwarranted invasion of privacy.
  • Documents consist of trade secrets and other business plans protected by an attorney-client privilege.

Public city records may also be accessible from third-party websites. Record seekers may either opt to use these non-governmental platforms to search for a specific record or multiple city records. However, users will need to provide enough information to assist with the search such as:

  • The address of the requestor
  • A case number or file number (if known)
  • The location of the document or person involved
  • The name of the subject involved in the record (not juvenile)
  • The last known or current address of the registrant

Third-party sites are not sponsored by government agencies. Because of this, record availability and results may vary.
